Lovers Seafood and Market Chef Steve McHugh has always had a passion for food. After a full career in technology that took him around the word, he finally decided to follow his heart and pursue his dream career within the culinary field.
A student of celebrity chef Kent Rathbun, Steve submerged himself in the foodie world and began a unique approach to his culinary studies by combining elements of fine global cuisine with approachable backyard barbecue. His passion for open fire cooking has earned him the nickname of “Grillin Villain” and you will often find him in front of a grill or smoker working and perfecting his craft.
Steve served as an instrumental part of the team Rathbun relied on to develop his catering and events reputation. Steve now applies his talent in the Market and Raw Bar of Lovers Seafood and Market, the renowned restaurant helmed by Lynae Fearing and Tracy Rathbun. There he creates dishes such as the daily ceviche and contributes his input into Aaron Staudenmaier’s ever changing menu while overseeing sales in the market and helping to develop the fresh fish program.
